Special Education
Key Middle School provides Special Education services to eligible students in accordance with guidelines established by the Houston Independent School District and state and federal requirements. Services are designed to support students with disabilities in accessing the general education curriculum while addressing individual academic, behavioral, and functional needs. Our campus team collaborates with families, teachers, and related service providers to ensure students receive appropriate supports in the least restrictive environment.

• Inclusion and co-teaching support
• Specialized instruction in core academic areas
• Reading and mathematics intervention
• Social skills instruction
• Behavior intervention and support services
• Life Skills instruction focused on functional academics, communication, daily living skills, and independence
• Transition planning to support high school readiness
Student progress toward IEP goals is monitored regularly and shared with families through progress reports and ARD committee meetings.
Parent Information
Parents and guardians are valued members of the ARD committee and partners in the educational process. Families may request an evaluation for Special Education services, participate in ARD meetings, review progress toward IEP goals, and access district parent training opportunities and community resources.
